Hampshire Country School (HCS) seeks its Principal, a new position created and authorized by the Board of Trustees. Reporting to the Head of School, the Principal will serve as Dean of Faculty and Student Affairs and will be responsible for hiring, supervising, training and communicating with faculty, formally and informally. The Principal will oversee faculty meetings and day-to-day interactions to improve academic and co-curricular programming, and will support the quality of student and faculty life. When the Head of School is traveling on behalf of the school for admissions and/or fundraising initiatives, the Principal will serve as the head of school.
Hampshire Country School has experienced transformational campus renewal and will continue on this trajectory. Its Main House building has been newly renovated and its largest residence was replaced in summer 2018 with a new and expanded building. The school is also experiencing unprecedented growth and success in its educational programs, including its traditional boarding school programs, summer camp, and working farm, as well as in the quality of its faculty and the ideal HCS student. HCS currently is wait-listing students for the 2018/2019 academic year. There is much success to celebrate.
We seek candidates experienced in working with small boarding schools and a high functioning, special-learning student population; a Master’s Degree is required. Teaching experience is requisite, along with well-honed emotional and social intelligence and the patience to nurture and find joy in the students we serve. The successful candidate will possess the expertise, qualities of character, and potential to assume the role of Head of School.
Interviews are anticipated by late fall/early winter.
